Abderzak Houmi’s introduction to dance began with hip-hop. Then, through his encounters with other artists in residency programs, tours, dance labs, and through commissions. In the past few years, he has been preoccupied with learning the ins and outs of kinetic energy, bodylines and memories. To borrow a scientific term, he experiments “hybridization”, fusing hip-hop vocabularies with contemporary dance sensibilities."
